THE HAPPIEST RESTAURANT ON EARTH? PLOVDIV, BULGARIA Part 2
How house Sitting?😮
While I can see the validity of many of your criticisms - at least, from the point of view of a British person who has never lived in the USA - I feel that some of the criticisms are a little unfair. Comparing urban restaurant food prices in a Western developed nation with those in Eastern Europe or Latin America requires some nuance. My wife and I recently had a two course pub meal for £30 for the two of us. (So £15 a head.) This represented a huge reduction on the standard menu, where the main dish was priced at nearly £20. While there were some dishes, e.g.; Salads which were available (in other pubs) for just over half price, many dishes are £12-16, with steaks and some other meat dishes being more expensive - and I am talking about relatively cheap pubs and restaurants. These prices bear no resemblance to those charged at the upper end of chain restaurants and pubs, let alone the top class restaurants. While a $9 taco in Peru is a lot cheaper than a US taco at $15, that is only relative. The average Peruvian monthly income is less than a tenth of that of the average American, so that taco is actually much more expensive for the average Peruvian. Their "cheaper lifestyle" is actually more expensive over-all for the average person. And the "average" is a purely mathematical midpoint where half the population is above this point and half is below. It does not take into account that many Peruvians live on extremely low incomes. I have no idea what your income is and have no desire to know, but I am assuming that your experience of a reduction in costs has not been accompanied by an identical reduction in income, otherwise there would be no great savings in living abroad. As such, you probably have more disposable income than the average American or the average native resident of the countries you have visited. As such, even the comparison of housing costs is not truly representative, in the sense that the cost of your apartment in Bucharest was significantly cheaper, for you, than the American apartment that increased massively in price. However, the average Romanian monthly income is about a quarter of the average American or British equivalent and the Romanian apartment would be even more expensive, for the average Romanian, than your American apartment would be for you. If you make a similar comparison between the USA and other countries, you might revise some of your views. For example, while American homes are slightly higher cost to purchase, on average, than homes in the UK, they are much bigger: "The average house size in the UK is 76 square metres. In the USA, the average house size is 201 metres." Thus, American homes appear grander and more expensive, to the average British person, than they actually are. I wish you well in your life outside the USA, but your criticisms, while valid, appear not notice or ignore the real advantages you have, when compared to the average Cambodian, Bulgarian, Romanian or Peruvian person or even compared to the poorer UK or US citizen.
It is called crony capitalism.
You also make more money in the US. I live in the Bay Area and went for a vacation to China and Taiwan and the living cost there are jaw-dropping.
Hi All! I’m looking to move abroad and am finding requirements I do not meet- like Mexico might require almost 5k shown income per month. I’m curious about how many of you move abroad and continue making income and meet requirements. Also curious of what is recommended as far as the amount of savings needed to make that transition. I know it’s a vague question and a lot of variables. One of the primary places I’m looking at is Guanajuato, Mexico. I’m a single 53 year old and safety is important- as well as mild climate and lower cost of living. The superficial nature and consumerism is difficult here! Thanks so much for this video!!!
Gun violence, 6 degrees of freedom... A few years back I was watching a news story about a foriegner that was shot dead within 24 hours of arriving in Atlanta and realized it was my niece's boyfriend who just came to visit her. The later comment from his sister in Belgium... "This doesn't happen in my country". I am moving to Asia soon.
California is stress! I'm an expat in Mindanao Ph., and I went back for one month last year to visit family and everyone was stressed. I even got a job in Sac and with one month rent, food, uBer the train and bus fares I lost money, and had to borrow $1,000 to get back to the Philippines. I will not return until I have money saved up.
Hello, I intend to go at the end of July this year with my brother to carry out the administrative recognition process for Italian citizenship, but I am uncertain about my immigration situation. On my first trip to Europe, in July 2023, I returned to Brazil in December 2023, exceeding the legal limit by 2 months due to the birth of my cousin's son, who needed my assistance in Portugal. Entry and exit registrations were made in Madrid, Spain, without any warning. Can you tell me if I will have any problems with immigration from Italy, even after completing 180 days outside the Schengen area? Thanks!
USA is Crazy expensive in Comparison to most countries. Services/ food/ Gas/ Entertainment/ Education etc .
Honestly want to get the hell out of the states…trying to change careers to remote work so I can leave, been in healthcare trying to transition to property and casualty insurance so I can leave
06:39 The traffic law in Bulgaria says that every continuation of a sidewalk is treated as a crosswalk, even if not marked.
Public transportation in NYC and other large American cities is death defying. Even flying commercial domestic airlines is no better then taking a city bus full of savages. America has incrementally fallen, due to greed and collective stupidity, as well as delusional thinking and inability to face the truth. The American media does a stellar job anesthetizing the public to reality.
I Love Jonna Napire 💜💚❤️ JUNE 29, 2024
Hi what month did you guys went? I’m looking for tickets online and it’s too expensive. How far in advance did you pre book with get your guide tours? Thank you! We are going in 5 days lol
We went in April and booked our tickets with Get Your Guide about a two weeks in advance. Hopefully you'll get lucky and can still get your skip the line tickets 🤞
@@Twocantravel thanks for the reply. I really appreciate it. I had no luck with get your guide it was all sold out. But I found one and this is the cheapest of all available for next week. It’s the omnia card 24 hrs rome pass it includes the skip the line passes to vatican museum and sistine chapel plus a hop on hop off bus and a big bus city tour vaild for 24 hrs. It also has catacombs tour included with 102 canadian dollars per adult. 😄
Great video ty!!
Hola amigos ustedes viven en Oxapampa o estan solo de paseo. Yo también fui a esa feria y compré unos ricos plátanos. Saludos.desde Lima.
Estábamos de visita en Oxapampa pero nos encantó. Lima también es maravillosa!
How do you make an income?
People with passports can travel. Why are American passports better than others ?
What a a wonderful video, personal share, comments and opinions. Thank you
It seems like a barter system, because after you pay transportation costs or first night hotel before you arrive at HO residence you do not make money. I think its a great idea to connect homeowners to sitters
Yes, it's an exchange and a great way to connect homeowners and house sitters. We really enjoy it!
I just came across your website, its interesting to see all companies that are doing this. I helped my friend start a lifestyle mgmt company 25 years ago and this was one of the services she offered. Now, i see many offer tier level memberships, having house sitters pay for membership is to me opposite of what i would think. I would think HO would get membership to list housing and search fir housesitters that match their criteria. My reasoning is that you may have to pay for flying there, renting car to etc, So membership to pay to see, and get paid to house sit do not know if it will equal out. I think should be some free options and referrals are a perk to. I do like the ID verification so it says who you are and paying for it is worth it to prove your not a scammer.
Yes, in the end you are paying for the background checks and ability to connect with so many homeowners and house sitters on a secure platform. We have had excellent experiences over the past five years meeting homeowners through Trusted Housesitters. As far as money goes, although it's an exchange and you don't make money as a house sitter, you can save a lot of money not needing to pay for travel accommodation which we definitely appreciate :)
I agree with everything except I am friendly to people just because I’m friendly, not because I’m afraid they have a gun
UPDATE ON MY LIFE CHANGING JOURNEY TO CAMBODIA I have been in Cambodia for almost two months and LOVE IT! OK... I sm having some problems getting used to the food... and NOT KNOWING exactly what it is I am eating...The people are super friendly, anxious to please and basically very honest... that is NOT to say there are occasional "bad apples" in the barrel. Traffic can be a nightmare to those of us who are accustomed to strict rules and regulation... but learn to go with the flow... but wear a helmet!
I hope The USA will improve one day
How bright , brave, and blessed you are. Every word you said is true. America I believe is starting to see the light. Thank you for trying to wake us up. Bless you both😂
Do you two have a home base somewhere, like in your hometown and/or if you are between house sits?
We don't currently have a home base, so we split our time between house sits, Airbnbs, hotels, hostels, and visiting family/friends. We've been traveling full-time since 2018.
This is great comparison, and after all I would just like to know how do you earn for your life now, what do you do, does your passports helps also in that sphere (because you mentioned benefits for travels)? Thank you for you answer!
Every single thing you said is on point.
How long do you have to wait for a response as a house sitter.
It depends on the homeowners. Usually they get back to us fairly quickly, however some homeowners never respond 🤷♀️ But typically they should get back to you within a week or two.
Just want tax payers health care no such things as free health care nothing is free on this world .US is cheap compared ot Canada .
Most Americans are friendly and hospitable your gun coment was uncalled for, the rest of the video was fair enough but i love my kids and america so I'll stay and just so you know i don't even lock my doors at night and yes i feel very safe. God is watching over me. P.s. i am a minimalist so some here are very happy thank you
Husband and I are in Ecuador moving to Albania this fall. We had talked about moving back to the U.S. but decided that wasn’t for us either. And it’s because of everything you listed out here.
I have to say and I really thought I was never gonna say it because hope was on an alltime low! You two are the two most down to earth Americans who I've seen since the 70's and just had to sub you guys! As a frequent traveller I was for many years, visting 65+ countries I can relate ti everything you mention even though I'm not an American but Dutch, yet there are many things to say about the Netherlands too! The Netherlands is also still a great country and has a lot to offer but it has changed too much for my personal taste to hang around and watch it to be pissed away by politicians, lawmakers and BIG industry!
I'm living in São Paulo, Brazil, the biggest city in Latin America and live in a one bedroom appartment and pay R$600 including water, electricity and WiFi internet connection which is 120 USD! Of course it's not in a luxury neighborhood but it's as safe as anywhere else where I used to live in a variety of countries! 120 USD you couldn't even rent an abandoned toilet in a swamp area for that! Food is expensive now for the average Brazilian but I'm not picky as long as I can have a healthy diet with a variety of quality food and spend about R$100 to R$150 a week on whatever I need that week whi h is about 20 to 30 USD a week or 130 USD a month! One doesn't need much and still have a quality life, not to be mistaken with a luxury life!
How far from the stansted airport to central london?
Do not even try to use contactless or Oyster on the Stansted Exptess. Buy a ticket to avoid a big fine. You may use a card to pay for the ticket.
The American lifestyle is very unhealthy especially if you are uneducated. The food is garbage, most people do not exercise at all. We are making Brazil or Colombia our primary home base and Kuala Lumpur our home base in Asia. Walkable cities with good gyms and public transportation are our priority. Retiring in the US makes no sense.
Just the truth! You two are awesome! Thanks for your video!
Yup, mandatory tipping is not common in most civilized countries around the world
I agree with everything you said. Except #6.
I agree with most things you said but the sarcasm in your voices annoys me. There is no perfect country, there are economic, cultural, political issues everywhere, and no matter where you move to, you will always be the " Americans ".
Safety wings is the worst you can get . Never refunded me nothing in 4 trips providing witness, receipts and documentations. DO NOT GET IT

si, significa pandemia.
How do you finance this?
Very informative!! No bullshit and get to all points! Love it :) thank u
We're so glad to hear it, thank you! :)

Excellent, I could not agree with your points any more. I live here 😡
